Use this A-Z recycling and waste guide to help you make the best decision when clearing out common items from the kitchen, garage and everywhere else in your home.

Many items can be recycled into new products, saving valuable resources, energy, and landfill space. A cost may be associated with some disposal or recycling services – contact the provider first to check.

I

Ice block sticks (wooden)

- Use in the garden to label seedlings and plants
- Recycle in your home compost bin
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Ice cream containers/lids (plastic)

- Recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) if numbered 1, 2, 5
- Recycle at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station if numbered 1, 2, 5
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) if plastic numbered 3,4,6,7
- Reuse to store food or household items

Inverters (power inverter)

- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away or donating. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Never put any electronic item in a household bin, e-waste is banned from landfill and is a contaminant in the recycling bin

Irons (clothes irons)

- Reuse by selling, swapping, giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages.
- Contact Bacchus Marsh Rotary: Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN) to see if this item is accepted
- Contact your local Op Shop – see if they accept working electronic items
- Recycle at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
