Recreational Vehicles
You must have a Council permit to use a recreational vehicle on private land if any of the following apply:
- The property is in a residential area;
- The vehicle will be used within 500 metres of any neighbouring house;
- You plan to use the vehicle between sunset and sunrise.
Without a permit, recreational vehicles cannot be used in these situations.
You will need a recreational vehicle permit to use any off-road motorised vehicles on land for recreational purposes. This includes:
- mini bikes
- trail bikes
- motor bikes
- motor cars
- four-wheel drive vehicles
- motor scooters
- go-carts
- any other vehicles propelled by a motor or by mechanical means.
You must consider local laws related to noise or odour associated with the activity.
