Use this A-Z recycling and waste guide to help you make the best decision when clearing out common items from the kitchen, garage and everywhere else in your home.

Many items can be recycled into new products, saving valuable resources, energy, and landfill space. A cost may be associated with some disposal or recycling services – contact the provider first to check.

W

Watches

- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages.
- Reuse by donating to your local charity/op-shop
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Weeds

- Reuse by making weed tea for your garden
- Put in a plastic bag and leave in the sun a few weeks (to destroy seed bank) then place in compost bin
- Recycle in your optional green waste bin (urban areas) (lime green lid)
- Recycle as green waste at a Moorabool Transfer Station (fees apply)

Wet wipes

- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)
- Avoid waste by using reusable cloth wipes that can be laundered

Never flush wipes of any kind down the toilet - they cause major sewer blockages.

Whipper snippers

- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages
- Contact your local Op Shop – find out if they accept working electronic items
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)

Whitegoods

- Reuse by selling, swapping, or giving away. Try eBay, Gumtree or local Buy Swap Sell pages.
- Recycle as e-waste at a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (no cost)
- Reduce waste by purchasing high-quality items, keeping them maintained and only replacing at end of product life
- Contact Bacchus Marsh Rotary: Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN) to confirm if this item is accepted for donation

Windows

- Reuse by selling online or giving away
- Consider whether it can be upcycled into a greenhouse
- Dispose of at the Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Wool

- Reuse for sewing or craft projects
- Reuse by donating to your local charity/op-shop or knitting group
- Dispose in your garbage bin (red lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station (fees apply)

Wrapping paper

- Reuse to wrap presents or for craft projects
- Recycle in your recycling bin (yellow lid) or take to a Moorabool Shire Transfer Station
