If you move or change your phone number, don’t forget to update your details with Council and the company that holds your pet's microchip information.
You can make changes to your animal's registration, such as:
- If your pet has moved to a different address or has moved out of Moorabool
- If your pet has now been desexed
- If a dog has been declared dangerous or menacing.
- If your pet has been registered with an applicable organisation or has undergone obedience training with an approved organisation.*
- Other changes of information.

Update a microchip
Any information stored on your pet's microchipped is not kept by Council.
You should update your pet's details with the relevant microchip registry. If you are not sure which registry your pets details are with, visit Pet Address to find out.
Unregistered animals
We may conduct random door-knocks throughout the area to check for unregistered animals. Owners of any unregistered dogs and cats will receive an infringement notice.
Pet identification tags
We provide lifetime tags for pet registration.
Your pet should wear the tag at all times. Fines apply if your pet is found outside your premises without its council tag.
If your tag becomes damaged or lost, contact us for a replacement.
