Local wildlife

If you find an injured pet, take it to a local vet.

If you find an injured or orphaned native animal, contact Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) on 136 186 for advice. Or call Wildlife Victoria on 13 000 94535.

In the warmer summer months, snakes become more active. It is crucial that we are careful to safeguard our pets and family from snake bites.

If you see a snake on your property do not try to catch or kill it. Walk away from the snake slowly and keep an eye on it from a safe distance.

Keep your pets and family safely away from it and call the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) on 136 186, who will provide the names and details of your local snake catchers.

If the snake is inside the house, close the door of the room it is in and place a towel under the door before calling DELWP.

For bees and wasps on private property, Council does not provide a bee and wasp removal service.
