| Welcome to Moorabool Shire Council
Set amid picturesque rolling hills only 80km west of Melbourne, Moorabool Shire combines country living with easy access to the city. An attractive mix of open spaces, friendly towns, orchards, deep gorges and forests.
One of Moorabool's greatest attractions is its diversity. Straddling the Western Freeway in the heart of an important agricultural region, the 2110 square kilometre Shire is a commuter settlement, popular tourist destination and centre of a large agricultural industry.
Approximately 27,000 residents call Moorabool home. Most live in the main centres of Bacchus Marsh (45 km west of the Melbourne CBD) and Ballan (70 km west of the city).
(Moorabool Shire Council - created by Order of the Governor in Council on Friday 6 May 1994.)
Please email Council at info@moorabool.vic.gov.au if you would like to provide feedback on any issues on our website or to obtain further information.
