Myrniong Church

A short deviation on the Western Highway from Bacchus Marsh is the beautiful hamlet of Myrniong.

Myrniong was established amongst lush wheat fields providing prospectors with a food source during the gold rush of the 1850s. Many early bluestone buildings remain offering a treasure-trove of heritage listed sites for those interested in capturing a glimpse into Australia’s past.

Some of the bluestone bricks have been repurposed into one of Myrniong’s most popular dining establishments, The Plough. In addition to the lovely bluestone restaurant, The Plough makes use of the on-site stables that were first built in the early 1900s, turning the space into a function venue with a difference.

Myrniong is also home to St Anne’s Vineyard. With tastings on offer at the cellar door and accompanying cheese platters available on the weekend, St Anne’s is certainly worth a visit.
