MAPP Up In Lights Bacchus Marsh and Ballan
6 July to 31 August 2026

Yin Yin Yonbarra, Mooroobull Wadawurrung Dja, Songbirds of the Moorabool and Wadawurrung Country, by Dr Deanne Gilson, depicts the Wadawurrung Creation Story alongside the artist's childhood memories of growing up in Gordon. 

This artwork was commissioned by Moorabool Shire Council following a call for expressions of interest to create a Wadawurrung artwork for the new Ballan Library and Community Hub. The initiative was supported by Ballan and District Soldiers Memorial Bush Nursing Hospital and Hostel Inc in 2023. 

The presentation in the MAPP Up In Lights, which coincides with NAIDOC week (5–12 July), features details from this celebrated painting along with the artist’s recollections and storytelling.
