Why is Council undertaking these works?
The project forms part of Council's ongoing investment in the Bacchus Marsh town centre and aims to:

What works are included in Stage 4?
The proposed scope of works includes:

Reconstruction of footpaths between Grant Street and Graham Street on the north and/or south sides of Main Street

Construction of new tree plots within the north-side car parking lane

Replacement of kerb and channel, regraded to reduce tree root impacts and improve drainage

Resurfacing of the south-side car parking lanes and remarking of parking bays on both sides of the street
How does this project relate to the Victorian Government works?
Council's Stage 4 project is being coordinated with the Victorian Government's upgrade of the Main Street / Grant Street / Gisborne Road intersection. These coordinated works will reduce the need for multiple construction periods and help deliver a safer, more functional transport network. The project also complements the recently completed raised pedestrian crossing near the intersection of Gell Street and Main Street, which has improved pedestrian safety in the town centre.
Is Court House Place included in Stage 4?
No. Improvements to Court House Place are not included in the current Stage 4 project. These works remain part of Council's longer-term vision and will be considered is a future Capital Improvement Program.
When will construction begin?
Construction is anticipated to commence in August 2026, subject to final Council approvals.
How long will construction take?
Construction is expected to occur between August 2026 and November 2026, subject to: weather; service authority works: and/or unforeseen site conditions.
Will businesses remain open during construction?
Yes. Council recognises the importance of maintaining business access throughout construction. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption and maintain pedestrian access to businesses.
Council encourages the community to continue supporting local businesses while construction is underway.
Will pedestrian access be maintained?
Yes. Safe pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction. Temporary pathways and clearly signed detours will be provided where required.
Will parking be affected?
Some on-street parking spaces will be temporarily unavailable while works are undertaken.
Works will be staged to minimise impacts, and parking restrictions will only apply where necessary to allow construction to proceed safely.
Will there be traffic disruptions?
Some temporary traffic management, reduced speed limits and lane closures may be required during construction.
Traffic management measures will be implemented to maintain access and ensure the safety of pedestrians, motorists and construction workers.
Will the private setback (shopfront) areas be included?
Council is offering adjoining property owners the opportunity to reconstruct private setback areas between building entrances and the new public footpath, creating a consistent streetscape finish. However, participation is voluntary and is subject to landowner agreement and contribution.
Will there be noise and dust?
Some construction noise, dust and vibration are unavoidable.
The contractor will implement appropriate environmental controls and undertake the works in accordance with relevant standards to minimise impacts wherever practicable.
