Step to the summit – Bald Hill precinct ready for community celebration
Join us for a community event celebrating the completion of the iconic Bald Hill precinct in Darley on Saturday 13 December.
Over the past four years, Council has delivered the three major stages at Bald Hill the All-Abilities Trail, the 1000+ Steps and the Summit Trail - all designed to showcase breathtaking views across Moorabool Shire and as far as Lerderderg State Park and the You Yangs.
We’re inviting everyone to come together at the very top of Bald Hill (via Swans Road, Darley) to enjoy:
• A free community BBQ
• A free coffee van
• A walk along the 2.5km summit trail with the artists behind the sculpture trail which runs along it.
If you’re feeling energetic, you can begin your morning with the 1000+ Steps climb, departing from the Telford Park car park on Halletts Way, Darley, from 9am, before joining the official proceedings at 10am at the summit trail carpark.
Mayor, Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor encouraged everyone to explore this outstanding community asset.
“No matter if you prefer to walk or run, I encourage you to come and have a look at the completed Summit Trail and experience 360-degree views of the Lerderderg National Park, You Yangs and even Melbourne,” he said.
Following the formalities, artists and Council staff will lead a guided walk of the summit circuit, answer questions and share the stories behind the sculptures installed along the trail.
The BBQ and coffee van will be available from 9.45-11am. Parking is limited at the summit trail, so carpooling is encouraged where possible to help reduce congestion.
