Community Grants

Community Grants Open 1 March to 31 March 2024.   

Before you apply for a Community Grant, please read through the information below. It will give you the best chance of your application being successful. If you are interested in applying for a community grant please contact Council's Community Development Team on (03) 5366 7100 today to receive support in preparing your application.

Each year, our Community Grants provide more than $270,000. These grants help support groups, organisations and people to provide local activities, projects and events. Our Community Development team are available to answer questions about how to apply, the grant criteria and general queries (03) 5366 7100 or info@moorabool.vic.gov.au

Community Grant Writing Workshops

Community Grant Writing Workshops will be held on Wednesday 21 February from 6-7pm via Teams.

Sign up for the workshop here.

The workshops will be delivered by Council staff and will cover topics relating to the Community Grants Program including:

  • Eligibility requirements
  • Previously successful projects
  • Available funding streams
  • How to answer the assessment criteria
  • The assessment and approval process

There will be additional time to discuss project ideas with staff after the presentation.

Community Grant Project Support Drop-in Sessions 

Support Sessions will be available for applicants who require further assistance to submit a community grant application. These sessions can cover anything applicants require assistance with, such as responding to assessment criteria, gathering required documentation, navigating the SmartyGrants platform or any digital guidance and assistance. These sessions are available in one hour timeslots and require bookings.

What you can apply for: 

  • Community Strengthening Grants  ($60,000 March Round; $60,000 August Round)
  • Community Arts and Culture Grants ($10,000 March Round; $10,000 August Round)
  • Community Events Grants ($10,000 March Round; $10,000 August Round)
  • Community Development Fund Grants (up to $100,000)
  • Sustainability and Environmental Engagement Grants ($10,400, August Round)

Community Strengthening Grants

  • Community Programs, Activities and Initiatives (up to $5,000)
  • Capital Improvement Projects (up to $5,000)
  • Small Projects (up to $1,000).

Applicants must demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support. Small community strengthening projects under $1000 are not required to provide a contribution.

 

Community Arts and Culture Grants

Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.

 

Community Events Grants

Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.

 

Community Development Fund Grants

Community groups can apply for a grant of between $5,001 and $100,000. To be successful applicants must meet minimum funding threshold requirements. Please contact Moorabool Shire's Community Development team for further information.

 

Sustainability and Environmental Engagement Grants

Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.
