Have your say: Help shape the future of Moorabool Libraries
Published on 14 September 2026
What should your library look like in the future? More events? More technology? A broader range of items for you to borrow? More spaces to connect, learn and create?
Council is inviting residents to help shape the future of library services as community consultation opens for the new Moorabool Library Strategy 2027-2032.
Council is reviewing how best to invest in library services over the next five years to ensure they continue to meet the changing needs of the community and remain fair, accessible and welcoming for everyone.
Residents are encouraged to share what they love about their local library, what could be improved and what services they would like to see in the future.
Mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor said the consultation was an opportunity for residents to help create vibrant library services that reflect the needs of Moorabool's growing and diverse community.
“Libraries today are about books and so much more. They are places where children discover a love of reading, students study, families connect, people learn new skills, access technology, join programs and build community,” Cr Venditti-Taylor said.
"Whether you're a regular library visitor, use our online services, attend children's programs, visit our outreach van or haven't stepped inside a library for years, we want to hear from you."
Cr Venditti-Taylor said feedback from residents would play an important role in developing the strategy.
"The best library services are designed with the community, not just for the community. Every suggestion, big or small, helps us better understand what matters most to our residents."
Residents can have their say in a range of ways, including by visiting the Lerderderg Library in Bacchus Marsh, the Ballan Library and Community Hub, speaking to staff at community markets and events, attending a drop-in session or visiting the Moorabool Libraries Outreach Van at locations across the shire.
"Grab a coffee, stop by one of our libraries, say hello at a market, or complete the survey online. We'd love to hear your thoughts and help make our libraries even better," Cr Venditti-Taylor said.
All feedback received during the consultation period will be reviewed and used to identify key themes, priorities and opportunities to help shape the Moorabool Library Strategy 2027-2032.
Consultation is open now and closes on 10 October 2026.
