Governance Rules

Council’s Governance Rules establish a clear framework for decision-making, transparency and accountability under which Council must operate. These Rules are based upon requirements of the Local Government Act 2020 and direct council officers and councillors on:

  • How decisions of Council are made
  • The ways in which meetings of Council must operate
  • Electing a Mayor and Deputy Mayor
  • How Council will operate during an election period
  • How petitions can be presented to Council
