Completed major projects - 2024-2025

Four out of five sections of the Aqualink project have been completed:

1. Aqualink North (a): Lerderderg River to Holts Lane, Darley
2. Aqualink North (b): Holts Lane, Darley to Masons Lane, Bacchus Marsh
3. Aqualink Central: Masons Lane to Main Street, Bacchus Marsh
4. Aqualink East: Main Street to Bacchus Marsh Train Station

Stage 1 - completed in 2021

Stage 1 - 1000+ Steps

The 1000+ Steps walk that links the residential area close to Halletts Way with the peak of the nearby Bald Hill. 

Completed in 2022.

Stage 2 - All-Abilities Sculpture Trail

The sculpture trail is located on the Telford Park Reserve, creating an additional opportunity for visitors of all ages and abilities to have a unique experience. The Sculpture Trail links up with the start of the 1000+ Steps.

Completed in 2023.

Stage 3 - Summit Trail

The summit trail is an extension of the 1000+ Steps, linking with the existing walking track to the top of Bald Hill with another all-abilities loop trail. This project also includes a new carpark, sculptures and toilets. The Summit Trail links directly with stages 1 and 2.

Works included pavement widening to achieve a minimum 6.2m seal and the rehabilitation of approximately 3kms of road from 1.6kms north of Lennoxs Lane to 2kms south of Ballan-Egerton Road, minor drainage works, sealing works and linemarking. 

Works completed: December 2024 

Completed in early 2025, this project includes soft landscaping (irrigated lawn area and tree planting), footpaths (including a connecting path to the nearby Darley Park pavilion), picnic tables/park benches, drinking fountain and play equipment (sandpit with shade sail, rockers, carousel, swings and climbing equipment).

Remove seal and gravel road re-sheet from Midland Highway to Bamganie Road.

Upgrade of reserve including new playground and landscaping

The final rehab works on Ingliston Road are now complete. Works included pavement widening and rehabilitation of approximately 2.5kms of road, minor drainage works, sealing works and linemarking. Completion of this section means you can now enjoy a smooth 6.2m wide seal all the way from Ballan to West Maddingley!

 Works completed: March 2025

Renewal works on the pathways in Maddingley Park are now complete, delivering a key priority project from the Maddingley Park Master Plan. The upgraded concrete paths now connect the main gate to the Station Street exit, and from the lawn tennis courts to the children's playground creating a smoother, more accessible experience for park users. You might notice the edges of the new paths are looking a little bare. Grass seed has been laid and will soon grow to blend beautifully with the surrounding parkland.

Works included pavement widening to achieve a 6.2m seal, sealing works, minor drainage works, and linemarking of approximately 1km of road.

Works completed: February 2025 

Re-sheet and seal existing gravel road shoulder from Old Melbourne Road, Dunnstown to the railway line. 

Works completed: December 2024 

Road reconstruction from 230m south west of Wiggins Road to Yendon No. 1 Road, including intersection upgrades of Yendon No. 1 Road, Triggs Road, Ramsays Road, Hogarths Road and Wiggins Road.

Works completed: December 2024
