How it works
The aim of this program is to slow ‘the summer slide’ of literacy levels by getting kids to read at least 10 books and completing a series of challenges. They can record their progress using an app called Beanstack, which rewards them with digital ‘badges’ as they reach their reading milestones.
Once you have read the initial 10 books you enter the major prize pool. For every extra book you read it is another entry in your name and is an extra chance to win!
Moorabool Libraries has joined with forty-seven other public libraries in Victoria to reach the goal of engaging 10,000 children across the state to read this summer.
Beanstack and how to register
Register for the Big Summer Read through the PLV Beanstack Portal or download the Beanstack app to register for the competition. Launch the app and select “School, Library or Bookstore” and then search for “Public Libraries Victoria”. If you have not used Beanstack before you will have to sign up to make an account. When you are filling in your details make sure to select “Moorabool Libraries” as your library service. Children under the age of 13 will need to have their parent’s permission to register.

Will there be a paper-based alternative for those unable to use technology?
Yes – you can simply pick up a simple paper version at your local Moorabool library branch and return it when completed to be included in the prize draw.
