Moorabool Arts Pathway Program (MAPP)
Moorabool Shire Council's Arts & Libraries team is inviting applications for the Moorabool Art Pathways Program, offering a range of opportunities across Council's galleries, libraries and public spaces.

- Assessment and Selection - October 2026- Eligible applications undergo a formal assessment process conducted by a panel of Council staff. Applications are assessed against the published selection criteria. Terms and Conditions(PDF, 215KB)
- Notification of outcomes - November 2026- All applicants are notified of the outcomes of their application in writing. Feedback may be provided upon request.
Applications will be assessed on:

Strategic and program alignment – 20%: Alignment with the objectives of the specific program and relevant Council strategies and priorities

Artistic or creative merit – 20%: Quality, strength and originality of the proposal

Community and library benefit – 20%: Contribution to access, inclusion, learning, participation, community connection and/or place outcomes

Suitability and feasibility – 20%: Fit for the intended venue, audience or site, and feasibility within available timeframes, budget and operational requirements

Applicant capacity and readiness – 20%: Demonstrated ability, professionalism and readiness to deliver
Library Exhibition Spaces
These library exhibition spaces provide opportunities for artists to showcase their work within community-focused environments. Suitable for the display of two-dimensional artworks, including paintings, photographs, prints, illustrations and mixed media pieces, the spaces offer artists the chance to connect with a broad audience of library visitors and the wider community.
Both venues are ideal for exhibitions that are appropriate for a public library setting and suitable for audiences of all ages. As family-friendly spaces, exhibited works should be welcoming, inclusive, and appropriate for children and the broader community. The exhibition areas provide a professional setting for solo or small group displays, encouraging community engagement and the celebration of local creativity.
Ballan: Library Exhibition Wall
One display wall measuring 10m x 1.5m.
Bacchus Marsh: Lerderderg Library Arena Space
Two display walls measuring 3m x 1.5m each.
This exhibition space utilises a metal railing hanging system with hooks.
MAPP up in lights
Are two outdoor galleries, at AA McLean Reserve, Ballan and Village Green, Bacchus Marsh.
The galleries support local artists, providing public exhibition opportunities in light boxes of various dimensions. The light boxes are double sided (and can accommodate different images on the front and back faces if desired), and production of the light box images is managed for you by Council. The galleries can also support the display of object-based work, provided the materials are appropriate for the conditions (resistant to temperature change and sunlight).

McLean Reserve lighting display & O'Fountain
A contemporary water-refilling sculpture designed to be both a functional public amenity and a canvas for creative expression. Installed by Moorabool Shire Council as part of the revitalisation of AA McLean Reserve, Ballan, the sculpture provides opportunities for temporary, site-responsive art projects and creative activations led by local artists and community groups. Situated in a prominent public location, the space encourages engaging, family-friendly artwork that contributes to a vibrant and welcoming community environment.
The McLean Reserve Illuminated artwork
Is an illuminated installation surrounding the new pavilion at McLeans Reserve, Ballan. Designs are translated into lighting effects, including drawings, text, patterns, and other visual concepts. Specialist lighting knowledge is not required. This space offers an opportunity to contribute to a prominent community space.
