Western Renewables Link Hearing Site Visits
Published on 29 September 2025
Community members are reminded nominations for site visits as part of the Western Renewables Link (WRL) Environmental Effects Statement (EES) hearing process close soon.
If you submitted to the EES and want to suggest places, including your own property, to be visited by the WRL Inquiry and Advisory Committee (IAC), you have until noon on Friday 3 October to nominate.
Council understands that locations may include public as well as private property.
“We urge any impacted landholders who would like the IAC to visit their property during the hearing to communicate this to Planning Panels Victoria directly,” said Mayor, Cr Paul Tatchell.
The IAC is an independent panel appointed by the Minister for Planning to chair a public hearing inquiring into the proposed WRL transmission line and its environmental impacts.
The hearing starts Monday 27 October 2025 and will run into 2026. The full hearing schedule and any site visit plans are still to be confirmed by the IAC.
Any community member who provided an EES submission and requested to speak at the hearing can put forward site visit locations for consideration.
Site inspection nominations must be provided to Planning Panels Victoria per the IAC’s directions issued on 23 September.
Nomination requirements are outlined in Direction 13 of Tabled Document 47, which can be found in Tabled Document 47 on the project’s Engage Victoria webpage:
