WRL Environment Effects Statement Exhibition Confirmed
Published on 23 June 2025
Council is aware that public exhibition of the Western Renewables Link (WRL) Environment Effects Statement (EES) has now been confirmed by the Department of Transport and Planning and will commence on Monday 30 June 2025 for 40 business days.
The WRL proposes a 190km high voltage overhead transmission line from Sydenham to Bulgana, including 60km directly through Moorabool Shire.
AusNet Services (AusNet), the project proponent, has begun notifying directly affected landholders and the broader community of the upcoming exhibition.
“Our community has waited years for the full impacts of Western Renewables Link to be made public,” said Mayor, Cr Paul Tatchell, “this is an important opportunity for anyone to have their say about the project, including Council.”
The EES will be available online on the Engage Victoria website, including information on how to make a submission, once the exhibition period begins.
Physical copies of the EES can also be viewed at several locations along the WRL route from 30 June, including in Moorabool Shire at:
Lerderderg Library, 215 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh
Ballan Council Office, 15 Stead Street, Ballan
The display of EES documents at these Council facilities should not be taken as Council endorsement of the project.
It is a statutory requirement that physical copies be available at public venues for those unable to access the EES online.
“We continue to support community members who are being impacted by WRL,” Cr Tatchell said.
“Council intends to make a submission and will be releasing information in the coming weeks to help our community further during this time.”
