A key objective of the Tiny Towns Fund is to increase liveability, opportunity and prosperity by delivering better public places and spaces in our communities, providing facilities for local families, building community capacity and increasing visitation that benefits local businesses. Council was successful in receiving Tiny Towns grants for the development of a Master Plan for Lal Lal Falls Reserve and for the development of a Ballan Cycling Hub Feasibility Study.

The Lal Lal Falls Reserve Master Plan is a vital initiative for this well-used but ageing reserve. The project will provide Council with essential insights through community consultation and engagement with the local Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP), ensuring that future planning reflects the values, needs and aspirations of both the community and Traditional Owners. This Master Plan will serve as a strategic foundation for future upgrades to the reserve, enhancing its use as a valued community space and strengthening its appeal as a visitor destination within the Shire.

The Ballan Cycling Hub feasibility study will assess how cycling infrastructure could boost visitor numbers, provide economic benefits and create opportunities for local businesses to provide cycling-related services, supporting the goals of Council’s Visitor Economy Strategy.

This project will consider the needs for improving infrastructure and liveability in growing areas like Ballan, particularly through active transport options such as cycling. The funding for both projects is welcome by Council, and we thank the State Government for supporting these projects through the Tiny Towns Grant program.
