Community invited to discover local volunteering opportunities
Council is proud to celebrate the incredible contribution of local volunteers during National Volunteer Week (18 - 24 May 2026), Australia’s largest annual celebration recognising the vital role volunteers play in our communities.
To mark the occasion, Council is hosting a range of events across the Shire to thank and recognise the dedication of volunteers and encourage greater community involvement.
A highlight of the week is the Moorabool Volunteer Expo, taking place at the Bacchus Marsh Public Hall on Friday 22 May from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
“This free community event promises an exciting and welcoming atmosphere, featuring a free BBQ lunch, live music from the BaccBeat Jazz Band and an onsite coffee van. It will be a great event,” Mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor said.
The first 50 attendees will also receive a free coffee.
With more than 20 stallholders, the expo will provide a great opportunity to meet local community groups, discover something new, and explore how you can get involved in volunteering within Moorabool.
“In addition to the expo, a number of volunteer appreciation morning teas will be held across the shire, celebrating the invaluable contributions volunteers make every day and the positive impact they have on the Moorabool community,” Cr Venditti-Taylor said.
“National Volunteer Week is not only a time to say thank you, but also an opportunity for those not currently volunteering to learn more about how they can get involved to make a difference.”
