More than just a pool: vital health and rehab facility for Moorabool
Published on 22 June 2026
The proposed indoor aquatic centre for Bacchus Marsh is about far more than recreation, with the facility expected to support health, rehabilitation and wellbeing outcomes for residents of all ages and abilities.
Mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor said the project would create new opportunities for local residents to stay active, recover from injury and participate in programs closer to home.
“This project will support so many different parts of community life,” Cr Venditti-Taylor said.
“For some people, it will be about learning to swim. For others, it will be about warm water exercise, rehabilitation, fitness or simply having an accessible place to connect and stay well.”
Bacchus Marsh Senior Citizens Club president and Positive Ageing Advisory Committee member Hope Mann said local access to aquatic programs could make a significant difference for many residents.
“Aquatic facilities can support gentle exercise, rehabilitation and confidence building in ways that are difficult to replicate elsewhere,” Ms Mann said.
“An added bonus is that we won’t have to travel out of the Moorabool Shire to access the facility.”
The indoor aquatic centre is planned as a community asset that supports inclusion, accessibility and healthier lifestyles, adding to the broader benefits the project will deliver across Moorabool.
