This March, Bacchus Marsh Public Hall comes alive with a unique exhibition hosted by The Salvation Army. Over 60 beautifully restored op shop gowns, carefully collected by local enthusiast Margaret Fava, will be on display for two days only – 6–7 March 2026.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Visitors will enjoy a stunning display of restored bridal and evening gowns, a chance to step into stories of history, craftsmanship, and sustainability, and a community-driven celebration of creativity and care.

ABOUT THE COLLECTOR – MARGARET FAVA

For more than 15 years, Margaret Fava has been lovingly collecting wedding gowns, a passion sparked by the unexpected beauty she discovered in op shops. Drawn to dresses that felt too lovely to be forgotten, she began “rescuing” gowns one by one — a hobby that has grown into a remarkable collection of nearly 300 pieces.
Margaret sources most of her gowns from op shops, with many generously gifted by members of the I Love to Op Shop community. Her collection now fills two spare rooms and two wardrobes at home, carefully arranged on high rails built by her husband.
Well known in op shops across the region, Margaret is often recognised by staff — sometimes holding another stunning gown, sometimes by her loyalty card. While she rarely shares photos of herself online, her reputation within the thrifting community continues to grow.
Her collection reflects not only an appreciation for craftsmanship but also a deep affection for the stories and sentiment woven into every dress. These gowns represent sustainability and style at their best.
