Philosophy in the Library - Virtue, Character & How We Grow

Next date: Saturday, 23 May 2026 | 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM

What kind of person do you want to be? How is character formed? And can we deliberately grow in courage, honesty, patience, or kindness?

In this session, we’ll explore the idea of virtue: the qualities of character that help us live well and relate well to others. We’ll think about whether good character is built through habit, choice, upbringing, community, or struggle — and what it really means to become better over time. Is virtue about following rules, aiming at balance, or learning how to respond well to life?

This session invites a grounded and engaging discussion about moral growth, personal change, and the everyday challenge of trying to live well. No background in philosophy is needed. Everyone is welcome, and the conversation will be open, friendly, and accessible.
