Moorabool Shire's 2023 Young and Local Program

The Young and Local 2023 Program, funded by Moorabool Shire Council, Creative Victoria and Freeza, supported 16 young people to develop their performance and stagecraft skills. The program was designed to support, encourage and equip people aged 15 to 25 years with skills and professional mentors to hone their musical skills.   

Over six weeks the participants were coached and mentored by industry professionals, with content covering event management, song writing, marketing and communication and an introduction to the intricacies of audio engineering.   

The program culminated in a performance at the Ballan Mechanics Institute which was at capacity on Saturday 9 September. The audience was treated to a selection of musical genres including original songs, instrumental covers, a few classic numbers and live background piano music during the intervals and a great time was had by all.  Moorabool Shire Council is proud to have been able to support it’s young residents in this program and hope it inspires further development for them.
