The next round of Community Grants open in March 2026.
Before you apply for a Community Grant, please read through the information below. It will give you the best chance of your application being successful. Our Community Development team are available to answer questions about Council's Community Grants Program and can provide information about how to apply, grant eligibility criteria and general queries. Each year, our Community Grants program offers over $270,000 annually. Grant funding enables community groups and not-for-profit organisations to provide local activities, projects and events.
Application form
Submissions for the March Community Grant round will open on 1 March 2026. We accept grant submissions via the online platform SmartyGrants.

Community Grants Writing Workshop
A Community Grant Writing Workshop will be held on Thursday 24 February from 6-7pm via Teams.

The workshop will be delivered by Council staff and will cover topics relating to the Community Grants Program including:
- Eligibility requirements
- Previously successful projects
- Available funding streams
- How to answer the assessment criteria
- The assessment and approval process
There will be additional time to discuss your project ideas with staff after the presentation.
Community Grant Drop-in Sessions
Our drop-in sessions are available for applicants who require further assistance to submit a community grant application. These sessions can cover anything applicants require assistance with, such as responding to assessment criteria, gathering required documentation, navigating the SmartyGrants platform or any digital guidance and assistance. We encourage you to book in advance to reserve a spot, however walk-ins are welcome if you are unable to book in advance. There may be a short wait if Council staff are already in a session with a ticket holder.

What you can apply for:
- Community Strengthening Grants ($60,000 March Round; $60,000 August Round)
- Community Arts and Culture Grants ($10,000 March Round; $10,000 August Round)
- Community Events Grants ($10,000 March Round; $10,000 August Round)
- Community Development Fund Grants (up to $100,000)
- Sustainability and Environmental Engagement Grants ($7,400 March Round)
Community Strengthening Grants
- Community Programs, Activities and Initiatives (up to $5,000)
- Capital Improvement Projects (up to $5,000)
- Small Projects (up to $1,000).
Applicants must demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support. Small community strengthening projects under $1000 are not required to provide a contribution.
Community Arts and Culture Grants
Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.
Community Events Grants
Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.
Community Development Fund Grants
Community groups can apply for a grant of between $5,001 and $100,000. To be successful applicants must meet minimum funding threshold requirements. Please contact Moorabool Shire's Community Development team for further information.
Sustainability and Environmental Engagement Grants
Community groups and organisations can apply for up to $3,000. Applicants need to demonstrate a contribution toward the cost of their project on a ratio of $1 for $1 (Council $1: Group $1). This contribution can be demonstrated either by cash or in-kind support.
