Indoor Aquatic Centre all systems go following Federal funding agreement
Moorabool’s long awaited indoor aquatic centre has reached a significant milestone, with the Australian Government funding agreement now signed, confirming $25 million under the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
The agreement confirms that Council can progress the project to deliver a year-round aquatic facility for the community.
The indoor aquatic centre will provide a modern, inclusive space supporting health, wellbeing and recreation for residents of all ages and abilities and is expected to become a major community hub when complete.
Mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor said the milestone was a strong outcome for the community and reflected years of advocacy and planning.
“This is an exciting step forward for a project our community has been calling for over many years, and we thank our local Federal Member for Hawke Sam Rae for his support,” Cr Venditti-Taylor said.
“The signing of the Federal funding agreement means we are now all systems go to progress the indoor aquatic centre and move towards delivery.”
Cr Venditti-Taylor acknowledged the critical role of funding partners in enabling the project to reach this stage.
“We sincerely thank the Federal Government ($25 million) and the Victorian Government ($10 million) for their contributions to this project.
“Their support, alongside Council’s $15 million investment, demonstrates a shared commitment to improving health, wellbeing and liveability for our growing community. Council’s commitment is included in our Draft 2026/27 Budget which is currently out for community consultation.”
With the project now progressing, Council will share updates with the community as key stages are reached.
