Join us for a celebration of local storytelling as the Peter Carey Short Story Awards mark 10 years of recognising Moorabool writers through the Best Local Entry category.

This special anniversary event features two inspiring sessions: a short story writing workshop with acclaimed author Rijn Collins, and a panel discussion with past local winners who have been recognised through the awards.

About Rijn Collins: An award-winning writer of short stories and memoir, Rijn's novel "Fed to Red Birds" was inspired by her writing residency in an Icelandic fishing village near the Arctic Circle. Long-listed for the 2024 Indie Book Awards, it explores identity formation through language, landscape and longing.

Program:

  • 10am–12pm: Writing workshop with Rijn Collins
  • 12pm–1pm: Light lunch (supplied)
  • 1pm–2pm: Local winners panel. Hear from past Best Local Entry winners as they share their experiences and inspire the next generation of Moorabool writers.
