Third Party Authorisation Overview

You may nominate another person or organisation (a third party) to access and manage your property and rate account information on your behalf.

Authorising someone as a third party means they are permitted to:

• Enquire about your property and rate accounts.
• Access your property and rate-related information associated with those accounts.

Adding a Third Party Authority

Only the property owner (the person or company whose name is on the account) can request to add a third party.

This request must be made in writing to the council.

The property owner:

• Remains legally and financially responsible for the account.
• May choose to give others authority to act on their behalf, such as:
  • A spouse
  • A child
  • A financial counsellor or accountant
  • Another individual

  Note: Even after authorising someone, the property owner retains full responsibility for the payment of the account and for any actions the authorised person takes.

Authority Conditions:

The nominated person:

• Must be 18 years or older
• Has full authority over the account including ability to:
  • Make changes to account details
  • Cancel council services
  • Amend payment information
  • Access financial information
• If we are unable to verify the full name, date of birth given to us by the authority on your account they will be unable to action on the account until the account holder updates the relevant information.
