Read Moorabool is a summer reading challenge seeking to encourage primary and secondary school aged children to read and undertake reading challenges during the summer holidays for the chance to win prizes.
What is it?
Read Moorabool Summer Reading Challenge encouraging children and youth to read and undertake challenges over the summer holidays.
Complete as many challenges as possible from the Read Moorabool Challenge Map and record your reading/challenges in the "Reading Log".
When is it?
Registration link will go live Tuesday 1 December 2020. Competition closes Sunday 31 January 2021. Prizes will be drawn Friday 12 February 2021.
Who can join?
Open to anyone aged between 5 and 18 who live in Moorabool Shire.
What are the challenges?
Challenge 1: Read or listen to a book by an Indigenous Author
Challenge 2: Photograph a landmark or place of interest within Moorabool Shire
Challenge 3: Listen to an audio book or read an ebook.
Challenge 4: Read a book with non-human characters
Challenge 5: Read an adventure story
Challenge 6: Read a Non-Fiction book
Challenge 7: Read a Picture book
Challenge 8: Pay it forward or do a good deed for someone in need.
Challenge 9: Read a book that was made into a movie
Challenge 10: Read a book with a colour in the title.
Be rewarded!
Visit Moorabool Libraries: Visit and borrow from any Moorabool Library branch to receive an entry. Three prizes available per participating library branch. See staff for your entry ticket.
- Visit Moorabool Libraries prizes: 9 x Food/Drink Vouchers (Valued at $10)
Minor reading milestone draw: For every challenge completed, and signed off by one of our staff, participants will receive an entry (one prize per person limit). See one of our staff for your entry ticket.
- Minor reading milestone prizes: 3 x Book store Vouchers (Valued at $30)
Major Prize draw: Every fully completed "Challenge Map" and "Reading Log" will go into the major prize draw and receive a certificate of completion. Prizes will be drawn on Friday 12 February 2021.
- Major Prize: $100 EFTPOS GIFT CARD
Book Drops
Each week during the 9 weeks of the challenge a book/books will be hidden in different locations across the shire. Clues for the hidden locations will be emailed to the registered email addresses.
