This week, substantial sections on both the north and south sides have been completed (bar installation of street furniture and some minor ancillary works) and opened up, after asphalting was completed mid-week.
This completion provides the community with a good insight as to what the final finished product will look like. About 50 per cent of the north side and approximately 30 per cent of the south side have now been completed (bar installation of street furniture and some minor ancillary works) and opened up.
Good progress is expected to be made over the remainder of this week and into next week. However, this will depend on the weather as heavy rainfalls have been predicted for the next few days, with night works being undertaken.
Further bluestone paving is anticipated to begin today (Thursday) and works are now being undertaken concurrently on both the north and south sides.
Council and its contractor will continue to work with traders and the community at large to minimise disruption and accommodate needs as much as possible
People are encouraged to consider using the off-street public carpark located in Steiglitz St, mid-block between Fisken and Stead Streets if they are having difficulty finding a park in Inglis Street whilst the works are being undertaken.
A footpath at the northern end of the carpark provides pedestrian access to Inglis Street.
