Council is calling on all residents aged 15-19 who haven’t been vaccinated against the meningococcal W strand, to register and attend a free vaccination session later this month.

Council’s Environmental Health Team will be providing the vaccination at Lerderderg Library, 215 Main St, Bacchus Marsh, on Saturday 29 July, from 8.30am.

The State Government added Meningococcal W vaccine to the secondary school schedule this year, but for those who missed it at school or don’t attend school, this session will ensure more of the community is vaccinated.

“Last year (2016), the most common strand of invasive Meningococcal disease (IMD) was the W strand, so Council offering this service to those  aged 15-19 who didn’t receive it at school, is highly important,” Mayor Cr David Edwards said.

Booking are essential for this session.

Bookings can be made by phoning Council’s Environmental Health department on 5366 7100 or emailing info@moorabool.vic.gov.au. Teens aged under 18 must have parental consent to be vaccinated. Download a consent form that you can print and scan back. You can also bring along on the day or take into one of Council’s offices in Darley, Lerderderg Library or Ballan before 27 July.
