Fire affecting residents in Scotsburn, Buninyong

ADVICE - FIRE

This Advice message is being issued for Clarendon, Durham Lead, Elaine, Garibaldi, Grenville, Scotsburn.

- There is a bushfire south of Buninyong which remains contained.
- The bushfire is contained in the Nashs Road and Scotts Lane area south of the Midland Highway.
- There will be a large amount of smoke in the area.
- There is expected to be very hot, dry and windy weather throughout the day, peaking in the mid afternoon

The Relief Centre located at the Buningyong Leisure Centre will be open today from 11.00am to 5.00pm and will be providing a range of information to residents.

A Community Meeting was held at the Buninyong Town Hall, 309A Learmonth Street, at 10:00 am today, with representatives from all Agencies there to answer questions.

There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor conditions.
Due to the expected weather conditions, the situation could change rapidly.

A community meeting will be held for those affected by the fires in the Buninyong/Scotsburn area, on Friday 7 December at 10am, at the Buninyong Town Hall, 309A Learmonth St, Buninyong.

This Watch & Act message is being issued for Durham Lead, Grenville, Scotsburn.

- There is a bushfire in the vicinity of Scott's Land and Nash's Road, Scotsburn and it is now under control.
- Although the fire is under control the warning level will remain at Watch and Act because of the very high fire danger rating forecast for today.
- This warning replaces the previous Watch and Act messages published for this area.

Firefighters have been able to stop the spread of the fire. Blacking out will continue throughout the day. 
Additional crews have been brought in from other Regions to assist.
Staying close to a building you can shelter in is the safest option as conditions can change suddenly.

Continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
