Help your child get the best opportunities to learn and develop at one of the Shire's several kindergartens
What you need to know about our kindergartens
Kindergarten is an important time for children as they explore, engage and learn early life skills with others. While it is not compulsory, we highly recommended your child goes to kindergarten before starting school.
It's an important time for children to develop their cognitive, creative, social, emotional, and physical skills. Kindergarten builds their self-confidence and helps them use language through playing.

What happens after I apply?
Allocation of places
We allocate kindergarten places after applications close. Places are allocated based on preferences and priority of access, which you can find out more about in our booklet.
First-round offers of a kindergarten place will be made in June the year prior to attendance. Applications received from June will go into the second round of offers made in August.
Applications received after the first and second-round offers will be allocated to available kindergarten places according to their preferences. If no places are available, the applicant will be placed on a waiting list.
Offer of a place
We make kindergarten offers via email. If you do not receive your email, please check your junk mail / spam folder. You will then need to reply with your choice or desired next steps.
Once you have followed up with your email response, the kindergarten will be back in touch in October to finalise your enrollment.
You can read about your options in this document.
