This is the first of 2 community sessions with Energy Safe Victoria.

In Part 1, we will address the following topics regarding electrical safety in relation to the proposed Western Victoria Transmission Network Project:

  • Comparison of transmission and distribution networks 
  • Fire risk / potential impact of transmission lines
  • Induced voltage
  • Arc flash risk

Speakers

Energy Safe Victoria is a technical and safety regulator responsible for the safe generation, supply and use of electricity, gas and pipelines. We look forward to hearing from Energy Safe Victoria representatives: Brett Fox, Head of Electrical Network Infrastructure, and Gavin Jackson, Team Leader, Safety Systems Assurance.

Brett is an experienced electrical safety management professional with 20+ years working in a regulatory environment, and overall 30+ years of specialist knowledge from working in electrical infrastructure design, construction, maintenance, operations and ensuring practices are safe.

Gavin has over 30 years professional experience in the electrical industry commencing as a Distribution Officer in the SECV and, after completion of an Electrical Engineering Degree, working as a qualified Engineer in diverse roles in design, electrical network planning, and engineering standards in a large distribution company. He gained further experience in the asset maintenance area manager in the railway industry.
