This session is designed to inform landowners on the easement acquisition process being commenced by Ausnet as acquiring authority in respect of the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project.

The session will cover the following topics:
1. The powers of the acquiring authority and where we are in the process.
2. Options available to landowners when approached by acquiring authorities.
3. General strategy on how to negotiate with an acquiring authority.

We look forward to welcoming Shaun Whittaker and Tony Rutherford from Mills Oakley Law Firm who will provide guidance on strategy options for landowners when considering how to negotiate with Ausnet as part of this process and answer general queries posited by the community.

Shaun Whittaker has significant experience in project delivery work in the energy and infrastructure sector with a focus on the life-cycle development of projects from greenfields projects through to brownfields acquisition and divestment strategies.  He has over 13 years' experience advising on projects in Australia, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Europe.

Tony Rutherford specialises in major infrastructure projects across a wide range of sectors including power, transport, health, water and telecommunications. He has advised sponsors, contractors, landowners and governments on large scale infrastructure projects across Australia. Tony has expertise in land access negotiation and has acted on both sponsor and landowner side of these negotiations including leasing acquisition and easement acquisition processes.
