The Neighbour's Place is a Christian not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to serve people of the Moorabool Shire only, who are disadvantaged, at risk or temporarily unable to feed themselves or their family and who are in need of emergency food relief. Identification is a MUST Centrelink card and Driver's Licence must be presented at EVERY visit, or other forms of photo ID is a MUST. Hours of Operation: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am-3.00pm sharp. ( Please try and get here by 2.30pm so we can assist you with food before 3.00pm). During school holidays we operate from 9.30-12.30pm. On extreme hot days we close at 12.30pm. Closed on public holidays.

Ballan District Health & Care

An emergency relief and material aid program operates through Ballan District Health & Care, two afternoons a week (Monday & Wednesday from 2 – 3pm) by appointment. The objective of the program is to assist residents within the Ballan, West Moorabool Shire and nearby districts who are in immediate financial crisis.

Soul Food- Bacchus Marsh Uniting Church Parish

This ecumenical lunch is provided by volunteers from various Bacchus Marsh churches at St Andrew’s hall and is held each Wednesday at midday. The aim is to provide a nourishing meal and social contact for those who would benefit from this service. Prior to lunch, guests can enjoy a coffee and chat in the foyer. The church is also open and set up for anyone who would like to light a candle, pray or just find a quiet place. Enquiries: Jenny Kearney jennykearney1206@hotmail.com

Uniting Care Outreach – Welfare Program

Uniting Care Outreach has a number of programs which provide emergency relief and material aid. The Emergency Relief Program provides support and assistance to those in crisis and/or experiencing difficulties meeting basic needs. Assistance includes food, vouchers, prescriptions, etc. The White Good Loan Scheme provides interest free loans to low income families to facilitate access to white goods. Family Ties is a program that links families in need of assistance with sponsors who assist them with resources. The identities of the families and the sponsors remain anonymous, all contact occurs through the coordinator of the program. The Breezeway – Meals for Homeless People program provides nutritious meals for people who are homeless, have no access to cooking facilities or do not have the skills required to prepare a meal. The service operates seven days a week. 10.30am to 1.00pm.

Salvation Army Ballarat Community Support Services

The goal of the Salvation Army Ballarat Community Support Services is to provide a Christian basis for involvement with individuals and families in order to assist them with material aid, counselling and other needs as required. 
They provide:

  • Emergency Relief
  • Financial Counselling and Budget Services
  • General Counselling
