The Lal Lal blast furnace is one of the most beautiful archaeological remains to be seen in Australia.
The Lal Lal Bungal Historic Area is a 75 acre forested reserve of predominately Peppermint and Messmate trees.
The Lal Lal Bungal Historic Area hosts the remains of Victoria's only venture into mining of iron ore and production of pig iron. Wind and rain, with the passing of time, have sculpted the 17-metre- high furnace on the west bank of the Moorabool River into a dramatic monument to the days when Lal Lal was one of the workshops of Victoria.
There are short walks to blast furnace ruins, iron mines and dam outlook over Bengal Dam and Moorabool River valley.
