Moorabool Mayor Cr David Edwards is delighted Council has been successful in obtaining a $2.5 million State Government grant. This grant will be used to build a new pavilion at Darley Park.
Council lobbied via the Peri-Urban Group of Councils (PUGC) for a many years to gain access to the Growing Suburbs Fund. Cr Edwards was chair of the PUGC for several years and pursued the campaign to allow Councils on Melbourne’s fringe to access the fund.
“I’m incredibly pleased we have received funding for this much-needed pavilion at Darley Park for the community to enjoy,” Cr Edwards said. The pavilion will be accessible and inclusive. It will have female friendly changerooms and three multipurpose community spaces.
“We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of residents as well as increasing access to community spaces. “This is just one example of the work Council is doing to advocate on the community’s behalf for better facilities and services in our Shire.”
Now the State Government funding has been secured, Council will work through the specifics of the project. Council will map out a plan for tendering and getting the project started.
