History and Community Corner

 Mr Beaky.png

Launching the new History and Community Corner is a collaborative artwork between Bacchus Marsh Primary School students, Art Teacher Megan Fromholtz and author of "An important message from Mr Beaky" Cassie Leatham. The students of BMPS participated in several workshops with Cassie discussing the important messaging behind Mr Beaky before creating an artwork that was reflective of the book.

About the book: Mr Beaky has an important message about what it means to be an Aboriginal person in Australia. Mr Beaky is blue and white, not green and yellow, but he is still a native bird.

Cassie Leatham is from the Taungurung people from the Kulin Nation. She is an artist, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and educator. Read more about An Important message from Mr Beaky here.

This artwork can be viewed in the Arena space inside Lerderderg Library, 215 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh during February and March 2023.
