CoderDojo @ Ballan Library
Free Computer Programming Club for Kids
CoderDojo @ Ballan Library is a fantastic initiative that provides a free fortnightly computer programming club for kids between the ages of 7 and 18. The club offers a safe and fun space for young locals in and around Ballan to come together and learn to code.
At CoderDojo @ Ballan Library, suggested learning pathways are provided to help kids learn coding, including programming basic robots and using Unity for game development. CoderDojo is an enabling space where everyone can learn at their own pace. Participants can work on their own coding projects or find inspiration from the CoderDojo projects page. The suggested pathway starts with Scratch and works towards Python.
If you're interested in attending a CoderDojo event or want to register, you can visit the CoderDojo website for more information. The website also provides a parents' guide to CoderDojo to help parents understand what to expect.
How to participate in CoderDojo?
To participate in CoderDojo, kids will need to bring their own laptop. However, if they don't have one, the library can provide one with advanced notice. Additionally, if a child is 12 years old or younger, a parent or guardian must stay with them during the session.
Have a question, interested in attending or to reserve a laptop? Please email or contact Moorabool Libraries and get started on your coding journey.
