Elaine

Elaine

Elaine was originally established as a stop on the passenger railway line that was built in 1862. These days Elaine is a friendly town offering a great rest stop for visitors.

Just a few short years ago the town was struggling with no local school, no sporting facilities and a dwindling population. But the community banded together to revitalise the town and build a reputation as a hub for young, emerging tennis players. The success of the tennis club was followed by the introduction of AFL Auskick, junior cricket and, eventually, the resurrection of the cricket club.

Surrounded by fertile farmland, visitors can enjoy a meal in front of the fireplace at the Railway Hotel, or a hot coffee and quick snack from the general store. A must-stop is The Farmgate, a store selling fresh produce direct from the farmer. Well-known for its range of potatoes, The Farmgate also offers a wide variety of fresh vegetables, eggs and meat.
