Previous Projects

Community Leadership Program participants are encouraged to develop a project throughout the program to put their learnings into practice. This can be done as a group or individually depending on the type of project. Council supports all participants to plan and fund their project ideas.

Bacchus Marsh says Thank You Frontline Workers

2021 program participants Nimmy and Veronica thought of the "Bacchus Marsh says Thank You Frontline Workers" project idea while participating in the 2021 Community Leadership Program. Through the action planning component of the program, Nimmy and Veronica planned several community-based activities to encourage locals to participate in expressing appreciation for frontline worker organisations. These initiatives involved card making workshops and post cards of appreciation held at the Lerderderg Library and Darley Neighbourhood House. These community organisations and project partners were networks gained through the program.

The project finished in the week before Christmas 2021 when Veronica and Nimmy delivered the cards completed by the community, to Bacchus Marsh frontline worker organisations including the SES, CFA, Hospital, Police and Paramedics.

Upon concluding the project, Veronica reflected “the Community Leadership Program taught me that when you are working together for a community, you engender ideas and for these to be successful you need to collaborate with the community during this process. You work together and draw on other’s expertise and through this combined effort you can't believe that such a great result can be achieved.”

Moorabool Paste Ups Program

Program participant and local graphic Designer Liz submitted her work as part of Moorabool Shire’s Paste Ups Program in December 2021. The Paste Ups Program provided an opportunity for local artists and creatives to have their work temporarily displayed around the Shire to “create moments of joy in everyday life”, a key objective in Moorabool’s first Arts and Culture Strategy 2021-2025. This piece also contributed to the Thank You Frontline Workers project and series of related community initiatives. Liz generously lent her time and skills as a graphic designer to support community projects within the program.
