Best Start

Best Start is an early years place-based initiative funded by the Victorian State Government's Department of Education. The program supports families, caregivers and communities to have better access to early years services for children 0-8 years. Best Start focuses on early intervention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children experiencing vulnerability.

Program aims

  • Children engage and participate in early childhood education (eg. kindergarten and supported playgroups)
  • Children and families actively engage with Maternal and Child Health services

Key partnerships

Best Start is based on formal partnerships of local agencies and service providers that plan, deliver and monitor evidence-based strategies to improve outcomes for children.
