Council staff have again made a pledge to drive safely by removing distractions and not putting others at risk while behind the wheel, as part of National Road Safety Week.

Council will run a social media campaign throughout the week – May 14 to 21 – and encourage the community to get behind the week, by being conscious about how they drive and dropping any bad driving habits.

Mayor Cr Rod Ward said the week was an important one.

“Driving becomes second nature and we do it without thinking. This week prompts us all to give some conscious thought to how we behave when we get behind the wheel and ensure that we’re all doing the right thing, to keep ourselves, our loved ones and all road users safe,” Cr Ward said.

The themes for 2023 Road Safety Week include road safety for young people, how safe is my car, sharing footpaths and taking care on regional roads.
