NAIDOC Week 2022
Published on 29 June 2022
NAIDOC Week is held from the 3-10 July.
This year’s theme Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! is a call to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and the wider community to continue to work to achieve institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative reforms.
NAIDOC Week is a time for communities to acknowledge and celebrate our First Nations people and their culture, and to recognise those who have and are leading change.
In 2022 we are once again fortunate to be able to showcase and share the skills and knowledge of some of our local Aboriginal community as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations in Moorabool.
This NAIDOC Week Moorabool Shire Council will be hosting and promoting a calendar of events and activities.
Library Services will host a NAIDOC Storytime and BacchChat session with Jayden Lillist, and a series of Woven Bracelet art sessions for adults and children in Bacchus Marsh and Ballan.
Arts and Culture activities will include a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by local Wadawurrung traditional owner Barry Gilson in Gordon, Projections of local Aboriginal artist Aunty Marlene Gilson’s art on the Gordon Hall, and a NAIDOC display in the Artists Alcove in Ballan.
