Council’s Economic Development team is pleased to announce that work is commencing to create Moorabool Shire’s new Economic Development Strategy, and a separate Visitor Economy Strategy.

The Strategies will identify opportunities to maximise economic, tourism and local jobs potential.

Urban Enterprise consultants have been appointed to undertake both Strategies in collaboration with Council, ensuring there is robust consultation across business and community.

“The last Economic Development Strategy was adopted in 2015,” Moorabool Mayor Cr Tom Sullivan said.

“The Shire and the world have changed a lot since then and it’s time for a fresh approach, setting a strong foundation for a thriving local economy. And after a decade without a tourism plan, it’s time to hold our own and celebrate our Shire’s unique and breathtaking attributes.”

Consultation includes the Business & Community Survey, available now via Council’s Have Your Say page and will be open until 30 November:

There will also be a series of virtual workshops which will be geographically themed, with the goal to uncover grass roots strategic opportunities and themes across the Shire. Workshops will cover both strategies on the basis that needs and opportunities related to economic development and the visitor economy, are often intertwined.

“We encourage everyone across business and community to get on board and complete the survey and to help us shape our future direction.  For those who wish to nominate for workshops, please get in touch with the Economic Development team by Thursday 11 November, or self-register via the Have Your Say page:
