Tourism Events Forum to talk Commonwealth Games

Tourism and event opportunities before, during and after the 2026 Commonwealth Games will be the focus of a local tourism events forum at Kryal Castle in June.

The free forum is the second event to occur in the series of Council’s commitment to business creation and development, following the Women in Business lunch in May.

This is the first time Council has held such a forum, but Mayor Cr Rod Ward said it was the perfect time for the inaugural event.

“This timing is excellent as our economic development team are starting to look at the opportunity that the 2026 Commonwealth Games offers in attracting tourism and events to the region,” Cr Ward said.

Attendees will be inspired and learn from a panel of experts on how and why event attraction will increase their business's success, enjoyed over a light breakfast.

The event is on Monday 5 June, from 8.30-10.30am at Kryal Castle, in Leigh Creek.

Panelist and speakers:

• Joel Chadwick, Sustainable Destination Development Coordinator, Ballarat City Council

• Emma K Harvey (DJSIR) - Coordinator Regional Engagement Grampians – Commonwealth Games Regional Development Victoria

• Bart Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer, Kryal Castle

• Kelly Harrington, Events Operations, KEL&CO

Bookings for this free event close on 31 May.
