Community Emergency Management Planning workshop - Korweinguboora

Moorabool Shire Council is supporting the development of two Community Emergency Management Plans (CEMP's) – one for the community of Korweinguboora area (new plan) and a revised plan the community of Blackwood area (update the existing 2016 plan).

An experienced, external facilitator, Gaynor Atkin, will lead the planning process and development workshops, with a local Committee established in both areas.

Council is calling for interested community members within these two areas (Blackwood and Korweinguboora, and their surrounds) to nominate for the planning Committees. CEMPs are owned by the community and are provided to emergency service agencies and Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committees (MEMPCs) for information.

The purpose of the CEMPs is to collectively develop skills which provide the community with:

  • Knowledge of the emergency risks that exist in their local area
  • Information to support the role that each member of the community can have in an emergency
  • A platform to connect with each other and Council before, during and after an emergency
  • The ability to support each other to become resilient in an emergency event or disaster.
