BPay

Direct Debit By completing a Direct Debit Authority Form, available from Council, you can nominate a suitable account with your Bank, Credit Union or Building Society (if you are not sure whether your account is suitable, check with your financial institution) to have your rates and charges automatically deducted from your account.
Various standard options for the payments of your rates are available through this mechanism:
- Full Payment
- Legislated Instalment Payments
- Weekly,Fortnightly or Monthly Payments of Rates in full (payments will be deducted from the 1 September 2008 to 16 February 2009. Value will vary depending on the value of your annual rates and charges).
Special Payment Arrangements can also be paid utilising this payment channel but may be subject to penalty interest.
You can terminate a Direct Debit Authority at any time by advising Council in writing not less than seven days before the next schedule debit drawing. To apply for your payments to be direct debited from your nominated account, please complete a direct debit request form available by contacting Customer Service on telephone number 03 5366 7100.
Penalty Interest for Late Payments
Payments must be made on or before the due dates. Late payment of rates and charges will incur an interest penalty. Full payment penalty interest is back dated to the date the rates and charges were declared, being 2 July 2008 for the current financial year. Instalment account penalty interest is backdated to the legislated payment due date.
Special Payment Arrangements
If you are experiencing financial difficulties and concerned about how you are going to pay your annual Municipal rates and charges, rather than wait until you incur penalty interest and/or debt collection proceedings, Council's Revenue Unit would like to encourage you to contact them as soon as possible to organise a suitable payment arrangement.
For example, if your rates are $1,011.00 and you enter into a special payment arrangement with Council's Revenue Unit by 14 September 2008, this would allow you 21 weeks to spread out your annual payment by making a payment of less than $50 a week which would result in your account being paid in full by the legislated full payment date without incurring penalty interest.
Special payment arrangements can be maintained through any of Council's payment channels. If you would like to discuss the possibility of this payment option, please call Council's Revenue Services Unit on 03 5366 7100 to further discuss this option.
