Attached is a copy of the report Economic Contribution Assessment: Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District commissioned by Moorabool Shire Council. The Council is grateful for the funding support of RDV, DSE and SRW in contributing to the funding of the project.
The Council would also like to acknowledge the contribution of the Bacchus Marsh Irrigators and Southern Rural Water officers for their support in the compilation of data used in the report.
As can be seen from the report conclusion, Bacchus Marsh Irrigation District makes an enormous contribution towards the Moorabool and Victorian economies and generates substantial employment.
The report also acknowledges that the BMID is facing a severe shortage of water which threatens its existance.
Moorabool Shire has already met with the Minister for Water's office providing them with a copy of the report. You may be assured that the Council will continue to advocate to the Minsiter Tim Holding to ensure the interests of the BMID are strongly represented in the Western Futures Water Strategy Report the State Government is currently considering.
